GIRAFFE for Human Rights, Pease and Education

“Whereas the recognition of dignity (…) constitutes the foundation of freedom,
justice and peace in the world …
Whereas the disregard and
the contempt f or human rights in barbarous acts
(…) and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of
speech and belief and freedom from fear and want it has been declared as
the highest aspiration of the common people …
Whereas it is
essential, (…) that human rights should be protected by the rule of
law ”
(1948, Universal Declaration of human rights).

The respect for the human rights, our interest for social subjects, our contact with people, our vision for a “humanistic” world, brought us together, linked in a common effort that was fulfilled with the foundation of the non profit organisation Giraffe for human rights, peace and education.

Giraffe

It is an animal that it distinguishes in the crowd.
It has the bigger neck.
It has a big and powerful heart.
It is perfect harmonised within its environment

and for us, all the above unique characteristics symbolize

diversity
flexibility
love and empathy
acceptance and adaptability,

that constitute elements of our vision.

Our objectives goals are to sensitize, educate and train people on their human rights.
We select interactive methods as basic tools of education. The knowledge that is acquired this way, is conquered through the attendance, the exchange and the experience, therefore it‘s more powerful.

We coordinate interactive workshops, groups, seminars (for educational organisms, companies, public and private sector, Non Governmental Organisations and individuals).

We organise meetings, congresses and festivals

We carry out research, studies and administer publications

We collaborate with Greek and international institutions for the promotion of human rights.

We emphasise on equality, codetermination, creativity, solidarity, respect for diversity, as positive motive forces.

We draw our know-how from our wide professional and voluntary experience on human rights education and in the interactive methods.
